What's one AI tactic that the top 1% of sellers are using right now that the other 99% don't even know exists? >> With AI, basically you get the opportunity to like create scale to like test 10 things to iterate really fast to gain tons and tons of valuable performance data that guides your strategic decisions. But that would only happen if you have humans who are controlling the entire strategic loop. And so the question about AI automation replacing humans I feel is again missing the point of like what are we trying to do which is we're trying to get efficiency but that still connects to like selling to humans. >> Hey Joe, what's going on? >> Oh hey Amy. So good to see you again. >> I know. Oh my goodness. I love everything you do with AI. I love reading your newsletters. I love reading your guides. I love reading your tips. All of the things. And I love that you're my friend and I can just reach out to you and be like, "Hey Joe, what about this?" And you always answer me. So, you're my teacher. You are a great mentor in the AI world for me. And you know, I'm crazy about AI. And speaking of AI and e-commerce, two worlds that we're both very highly involved in. We have Kevin King's Ecommastery.AI event coming up April in Nashville. and you are speaking at this event and you're going to be talking about advanced AI tactics for e-commerce. Have you been to an event like this? >> No, I mean I I think what Kevin is putting together is really amazing. I think it's so uh thorough like you know I I just I am actually getting a little bit of a FOMO about the moment when I speak on stage when I'm doing my speech because I feel like I'm already missing like really great content and I feel like everybody's going to feel quite a lot of FOMO in this event because there's just going to be so much value. like he has literally like cherrypicked the best speakers and I feel very very honored to be part of that um lineup. But yeah, it's just it's like so 360. There's so much like content that is not just like you know the generic pitches that you get on other events. It's like really really tactical um really actionable and yeah, I'm just super hyped. >> Oh, that's such a good point. You know, there's so many stages at this event where there's everything from beginners stuff for people just wanting to get into e-commerce and learn the latest and greatest in AI all the way to advanced for the multi-million dollar sellers that are just wanting to really dig in on those tactics. So, you're going to be talking about advanced AI tactics for e-commerce. And you work with some of the most advanced sellers in the world on AI. And what's one AI tactic that the top 1% of sellers are using right now that the other 99% don't even know exists? Well, this is a great question because I think a lot about um AI right now or people talking about AI is there's a lot of hype and a lot of the time when I look at um people talking about AI or the things that they share, they're very much focused on kind of like just execution on turnurning out content and that's perfectly fine. That solves a problem. But the step change in terms of becoming advanced AI user in terms of content generation or just like how you understand um output is when you start using AI as a strategic memory layer. Basically that means that um the advanced sellers and the advanced agencies that I work with right now are changing or shifting their their mindset about AI is now generating some content to AI is now becoming my living brand brain which basically means they create these entire ecosystems of intelligence about their positioning their brand their customers um their testing history like basically what worked what didn't work all the way to the minute things like uh hero image icon um their competitors intel and basically from that vantage point from that insights point then they start thinking about strategy and then that trickles down to content generation but that makes a really big difference and I think it's not about just efficiency it's about how you use AI to ingest data to then give you an edge over your competitors >> yeah I I think that's so powerful because so many brands that are just kind of dipping their toe in AI are having just a conversation with an LLM like chat GPT. Um, every time they need something, they're having to have a new conversation. And what the difference is in building this brain is it's a kind of like a living organism. It's like a big employee that knows everything, you know, like and you can always pull data from it without having to start a new conversation every time. Speaking of that, AI agents, uh, this is AI that can kind of work on its own and do specific tasks. they are replacing entire teams. For a seller that's currently paying $5,000 to $10,000 a month in virtual assistant costs, what's the realistic timeline before AI can handle most of that and what should they automate first? >> All right, so this is this is interesting. I I would actually push back on this question because um the narrative of like sellers who use AI and AI really well and if you wish AI agents is not um hey let's replace let's replace my team or let's replace my VAS but like how can we essentially build the best of both worlds like you have essentially a team of untouchable AI sta AI powered staff that manages agents and this is again like a really big difference in mindset I feel like the narrative around replacing people or humans with AI agents is very misinformed because yes there is certain tasks that can be replaced but actually if we really dive deep as to what is happening right now in the AI landscape there is um and actually not the AI but like the Amazon landscape um AI is not an edge anymore right so like everybody has access to AI everybody can build kind of like an AI agentic system the issue here is that because everybody has access to it and everybody's trying very fast adopt this um what ends up is a very um sloppy output and what we are seeing is that on Amazon for example if we take something like um Amazon images we're seeing just the same type of images coming out again and again and again and it's becoming like actually paramount that you figure out how to incorporate a human in a loop in strategic ways where they actually guide the agents where they provide valuable feedback and um they essentially create this differentiation and this edge versus what everybody's generating out there. Same thing like again the the sort of the step change in terms of um success and um actual like AI edge comes from scale like Amazon sellers are so time poor. It's always been till now the choice between okay so like I have a list of all these things that I want to test but I can only test two. Now with AI basically you get the opportunity to like create scale to like test 10 things to iterate really fast to gain tons and tons of valuable performance data that guides your strategic decisions but that would only happen if you have humans who are controlling the entire strategic loop and so the question about full AI automation replacing humans I feel is again missing the point of like what are we trying to do which is we're trying to get efficiency but that still connects to like selling to humans and that essentially comes from having like AI powered humans that manage AI automations and AI agents for the better output. >> You really need to differentiate in a way that matters to the customer. And if everybody's just pumping out the same images and the same kind of BS, for lack of a better word, everybody's brand is going to become sort of vanilla and um and then we're back to competing on price and reviews. And that's not what we want. Buying is still a very psychological decision. So we want that connection. We want that humanity in our work and in what we put out there. So AI becomes the tool instead of the employee. And it's really really great advice and I agree wholeheartedly. So your session in Nashville is specifically for advanced sellers. Without spoiling it, what's one thing you're going to teach that could fundamentally change how someone runs their business? My session is going to be focused on on two principles. The first principle is not um how much, but how well. And that again makes a difference. A lot of people are talking about how much creative can you pump out out there. And yes, that's still very much a valid question when it comes to Amazon or like Meta or Tik Tok. But what I want to dissect is like how well can you build the systems, the prompts, the thinking behind what you output so that you create this like actual like edge. And the second principle that I'm going to focus on is around processes. So um Amazon sellers tend to try to do everything and like over time they try to obviously um remove themselves from the business and that is a really big challenge for most sellers especially when they start thinking about scaling um or trying to essentially like look for an exit. And so AI is actually a perfect candidate to help them with that with that piece of removing themselves from the business while still like having their brain, their thinking, their methods that made their business so successful at the first place like still apply and still basically operate in this way. And so I want to focus on those two sort of principles because I think this when if we're talking about advanced use of AI, it's not about hype. It's not about flashy stuff. about like how you form your thinking around using AI systems to create overall systems to make your business work better. >> I love it. You're focused on helping people gain an actual edge, not just a project that they started and then they don't see any value in because it wasn't built with that edge in mind. You're going to really help them with that. And I can't wait to learn from you. I'm definitely going to be at your session. Everyone, you have to join us for this. It's going to be amazing. >> We're going to be in Nashville. >> Yeah. You're going to miss so much and it's going to be so much fun as well. Like these are two main reasons like come and learn and come and have fun. >> Exactly. Come learn, come have fun, come hang out. There's going to be so much going on, many different stages, but every night there's opportunities to network, to get to know people, to be part of this incredible community that Kevin King is building. Ecommastery.ai is the website. Use code mastery to save 20%.
