Catching up with the one and only Kevin King - The Amazon entrepreneur king 00:00:01 Hey guys, a fantastic uh, what is it today actually? It is Wednesday over here. My very first day after my little vacation and whatever hospital stay, and the very first day I'm super, super happy! I don't know if you see him yet here in the picture, but we have the one and only, the real Kevin King right now here, and you can see how I'm smiling and fantastic to have him over here. Kevin, uh, welcome to our little introduction. I hope we can share a bit about you and share lots also about all of the efforts and all of the benefits that you give all the sellers out there through whatever you're doing in the Amazon world. Welcome! I appreciate. 00:00:41 It's uh, it's great to be here, it's good to see you again, I'm glad uh, you're doing uh, better and uh, and and and, uh, quick recovery there to you. Yeah, thank you very much of course as well, I mean, you just told me, you also had a little bit of some the same, just really literally goes back to you. I hope everything will be well. I appreciate it. Kevin, we just had a very quick summary of like all the things that you're doing in the Amazon world. I mean, of course, everybody in the English-speaking world knows you. Germany also more and more people, of course, know you for all the activities that you're doing. Kevin, help me out. What was the first thing you mentioned? You are running, of course, the AM PM podcast. 00:01:23 You are running the Helium 10 Freedom Plan, the Elite Training. You have your own businesses as well, the Billion Dollar Seller System, but I don't want to talk too much. Maybe you can give a little bit yourself of an overview. What are all the things that you're invested in? Yeah, sure. I've been selling on Amazon since 2001 as FBA since 2015. I've been doing importing products and selling direct to consumer into stores, everything since the 1980s. Late 1980s when I was in college. I haven't worked for anybody since I was 17 years old. So I'm not one of these typical people that had a corporate job and quit this to do the freedom. I've always valued my freedom as an entrepreneur. And I've had the ups and downs, everything from a bankruptcy 25 years ago to really good success. 00:02:13 But today I've got basically eight different businesses that I'm involved in. One of those is, like you said, I do work for Helium 10. I don't work for the company, but I have a contract with them. So I do the AM/ PM podcast, which is a weekly podcast with a new episode every Thursday. Pretty popular podcast. I also do the Freedom Ticket, which is a training for new people. That's included free. We have a Helium 10 membership. I also do the Helium 10 Elite, which you guys appeared on a few weeks ago, which is an advanced training for the more serious, bigger sellers. That we do every month; I do the Billion Dollar Seller 00:02:52 Summit, which is a there's a virtual event like in February, and then a live in-person event-the next one's in Puerto Rico in June, and uh that's all like seven eight nine figure sellers uh it's a small event about 120-150 people uh but the average in the I think last year uh in when we did in August we had uh 11 11 sellers doing over 100 million dollars a year on Amazon. The average was about $15 million. That's a lot of big-time players. I have two Amazon accounts. I'm sorry, three Amazon accounts that I sell on. One of them is a seasonal account, so we only really do much between September and February. Excuse me. If my voice breaks up or I cough, I'm getting over pneumonia. I apologize for that in advance. 00:03:45 I create some of my own products, you know, from scratch, creating the molds, you know, come up with the idea, creating the molds and the whole nine yards on some of those companies. We're in the pet space, the office of product space, and the fitness space on that. I also do product savants with Steve Simonson, which is a company for bigger sellers where we provide product opportunities for large aggregators and large sellers. It's not like a done-for-you service or anything like that. It's more of a, we find opportunities as we're looking for our own stuff and maybe it doesn't fit with what we're trying to do. So we put together packages called Brand Genesis where it's basically five products around a similar theme. And then we introduce them to the factories, provide all the data for that. 00:04:39 and then they they take that and uh they they do their own marketing they they take it from there and run with it on their own um so that's that's what we do in product savant so uh and then i speak at a lot of different events i've spoken at events in germany in the past i speak at events all over the world uh live events and and uh like you know online stuff so uh do do quite a bit that's uh really great to hear in congress and you said what you're like more than 30 years in the industry um your yeah 30 plus years running it what was it like in the 00:05:14 middle of the late 80s so i started doing it wasn't late 80s i started doing my first uh putting my first ads in the back of computer magazines but selling online i think i made my first sale uh online in like 1995 or six maybe wow first first first actually so i had i had my own website with my own products my own fulfillment um company that we did stuff with and i first sell on amazon was uh 2001. Nice, yeah, that's quite a while I mean literally. Uh, we have some of the sellers, I mean they were nearly born in that age uh or sorry in the end year and even still, of course, going through with Amazon and then started selling there with quite some success, I mean fantastic and glad to see that you, of course, stuck with the industry and continued to go um, I can very much hear. 00:06:11 I mean your voice; I don't want to always stress you but I think one of the focuses we can maybe put onto is just a billion-dollar uh seller. The summits, the events, both online as well offline. How should people when is the next one coming? You said it's in February or so right or is it yeah, there's one coming in February; it's yeah there's one coming in february it's a virtual event. It's uh, it's about $1,500 US dollars for the virtual one, and the in-person one is about $6,000 um but we we do it quite a bit differently than most other events. It's not uh just come listen to a bunch of presentations there's a huge networking element like the last live event when we did uh in August here in Austin; we did a huge like scavenger hunt race amazing race type of thing that people Loved you know it was really good bonding. 00:06:59 We do a lot of cool activities at night. So, it's not just come listen to a bunch of presentations. And the presenters, I'm extremely picky on the speakers. They have to bring it. There's cash prizes. The audience votes on who they thought was the best speaker, and they get like $5,000. And I publish a list on the last day of the speakers in order of how they were voted. And nobody wants to be last. On the bottom, nobody wants to be embarrassed, so they all are bringing their a-game. Uh, and I'm very picky; it's not the stuff you hear on podcasts or another like free summits or something like that, um, it's uh, it's very actionable, hard-hitting, hard-hitting stuff. 00:07:39 So we have one uh coming up in February, um, it's the tickets aren't on sale yet, they'll go on sale in January, uh, but it's Billion Dollar Seller Summit. com, uh, is the address, uh, but those will go on so and that's virtual. But we don't do it the way we use a special software called Hopin. It's an Australian-based company. It kind of mimics a live event. People love the software. It's not like a lot of these summits you go to and it's just a bunch of recordings, you know, and they're released every three hours or whatever. Everything is presented live. Nothing's pre-recorded. There's interactivity. There's breakout rooms. It's a pretty cool piece of software. And it's a pretty cool experience for a lot of people when you get to actually interact with all the other attendees that are there. 00:08:22 It's pretty cool. So, that's coming up February 22nd, 23rd. But tickets will go on sale in January at BillionDollarSellerSummit. com. And then we're doing a live one in Puerto Rico in June. Yeah, fantastic. Would you suggest this is something for the real beginners? Probably not yet, but probably for the beginners who mean the business series or who do have, on the other hand, also quite some experience already. It sounds very much like you will have a lot of actionable tips and tricks that will increase, for sure, the sale; make your sale better. It's probably nothing for the absolute beginners, but now the billion-dollar summit, yeah, the last one we did uh in August, you know, we 11 people doing over 100 million dollars a year, uh, the average was in the neighborhood of 15 million, uh, so it's not for beginners. 00:09:15 No, it's for experienced sellers who want like really actionable stuff that they can take away and immediately go implement and make an extra hundred thousand, five hundred thousand, or even a million dollars in their business; that's what's aimed at. The new people if you're brand new, I have the Freedom Ticket which is uh, you know, it could be sold for $5,000 but we give it away free if you have a Helium 10 membership and there's that's that's meant for uh, for new people; it's A to Z, that's about 60 some odd hours uh, and covers everything from forming a company to building your your value ladders to all the details about setting up your account. It's A to Z on Amazon. I've got guest speakers in there. 00:09:56 I talk about different things. That one's the one for beginners. And plus a lot of sellers have been selling for a while. I actually go through it and pick up a few new things as well. Yeah. Fantastic. Again, Kevin, thanks a lot for sharing about this. I guess both beginners as well as advanced and the very advanced can learn from you through the Freedom Plan or the Freedom Ticket, Billion Dollar Seller Summit and the products advanced for the big sellers, especially when it comes to some of the product issues that you're solving for them. Fantastic. I don't want to stress you much more. Your voice needs some rest. And if you're Kevin King, you do have more appointments, of course, as well. So thank you a lot for being here. And I guess, how can people find you? Just Facebook you up. Yeah, you can look me up on Facebook. That's probably the best way. It's just search for Kevin King on Facebook. And if the feed has a bunch of Amazon stuff in it, that's me. Yeah, listen to him. I guess he has lots of knowledge. Kevin, thanks a lot for being here. And I wish you a very quick recovery as well. I appreciate it. Thanks. All right. Thank you.
