Amazon Product Research in 2026 Has Changed - Here's What Actually Works Speaker 1: Nice to meet you. My name is Tina. I'm a CPA at AMZScout and have been for almost 10 years, actually. In the past year or two, we've launched a lot of AI services, of course, because everything is booming. Everything is AI right now. And it actually helps a lot. To add AI tools and to analyze everything, all the figures. It helps our users, clients as well, because everything can get so complicated. There are a lot of numbers, pieces of data and AI can explain a lot of stuff and suggest you what to do next. And I really love to help and explain how everything works. So, first of all, I wanted to share with you, if you don't know yet, this really interesting thing that everyone, as it seems, is discussing on Reddit, Facebook, everywhere. So apparently Amazon is a little bit scared of robots, parsers, scraping bots and that want to copy all the content, prices, reviews, ratings and everything. And I think they want to defend their copyright and I think valuable things that they have is, for example, their reviews, because a lot of products have hundreds or thousands of reviews and there is a lot of valuable information there that helps buyers choose the product, but it also Maybe, yes, helping Amazon sellers to understand what's going on, to improve the products, which is also a good thing. Uh, but, uh, somehow that's my hypothesis. I'm not sure why, but Amazon, uh, blocked, uh, the reviews section for a lot of users, uh, for me, uh, to, it looks like that. And you can only see, uh, eight to 10 reviews available on the good reviews, uh, for any product. I don't think it's going to go anywhere. I think that's what they've decided to do. So now you can communicate with a Rufus AI chat, which is available on every Amazon page. And well, I'm not sure if in the future we will be able to read all the reviews. We know what to do with this. As a software tool, but, uh, uh, in order to, to overcome these difficulties, you'd need to use the software or communicate with roofers. So firsthand experience may not be available anymore. And, um, This, this is really confusing, but I think logical. Um, I mean, from the Amazon side, let's go on. I see the question, uh, if the slides will be available later. Uh, I think that, uh, yes, they will in the form of the, uh, video, uh, recording of this webinar. Let's get on. So the first thing I want to cover is a step-by-step guide how I would find and check a product idea. So the first thing I would do is Yes, to find a direction. So there are a lot of places where you can look for trends. Sometimes people think that that's a product idea in itself, but I usually don't think that's a product idea yet. That's just a trend, a direction, which can help you understand the trends. The sources of the trends could be TikTok, Pinterest, ChatGPT, of course, and all the other AI tools and also, of course, AMZScout. We share the product ideas and niche ideas every week and then we combine everything in a monthly report. So that's, by the way, one of the slides from the March report. So what we usually see in the spring Yes, but people tend to start paying attention to their gardens, of course. And so I would recommend looking for gardening and home plants. Then eco-friendly lifestyle products. So this idea of eco, reusable, durable stuff and being minimalistic probably, is the idea that keeps repeating itself. And it's booming again in this year. That's what we see by the end of February and March. So people try to grow something new, get rid of something old, and go eco-friendly. Then usually we see the sports and outdoor activities stuff Because Christmas is over. Winter is over. You want to look good. And, uh, of course, uh, everyone wants to look fit. And so this niche is booming. It's just a really big niche. Of course, you'll need to find something specific, but that's what's, what's actually, what's, uh, usually bombing at the beginning of spring and, uh, spring home refresh, uh, and organization of things. And that's how the graph of the gardening product looks like. For example, you can see the clear trend in the previous spring and this one. As well. So the spring products, gardening and home plants, as I already said, would be a great thing to look at. Outdoor activities and sports. Yeah. Eco-friendly lifestyle products and refreshing and organizing their home's goods. You can see the exact products on this slide. You can try to find them, but those are just the examples. So some potting mix for container plants, seeds pack and some growing system. So the search metrics for gardening products is just A slide to prove that there is a bigger search volume of and which means demand for all these keywords. So, for example, people in the U.S. that's for the U.S. typed the word plant stand seventy four, approximately seventy four thousand times during 30 days. And all these keywords trending. I mean, more people were looking for the planned stand in the previous months compared to the previous months. Last month, I mean. There was a small message that I was out of the room. I hope everything is okay. Sorry, it was the red one. I left the chat. Oh, it was my assistant. Sorry. Let's go on. So, sports and fitness. Like I said, you see a clear trend every spring. connected with different accessories, apparel, equipment, and stuff connected with that. And also this year demand also spiked because of the Olympic Games, of course, and different calendars, coloring pages, yeah, small flags, banners, everything was booming. Of course, I wouldn't recommend to I won't go into the niche because the Olympic Games that happened in Milan just months ago are already over and it's useless, I think, to look at the products connected with this event. But the new Olympic Games are always coming. They're always coming in the next year or two. If you want to sell something, to sell a lot in the short period of time, I guess, just one or two months, but I think that could be a good idea to have some sports product connected with the Olympics somehow. So those are the, as I said, the directions in which you could go and choose If you like the sports category or gardening or anything, that's the step one, I would say, in your step-by-step product research. Step two, for me, would be to, of course, narrow your search and that would be That were that's a screen screen screen share starts idea that I like The categories that I like and put them Into the product database at MC Scout. That's that's what I usually do when I'm looking for new products. I Haven't even known about so what I did. Yes, I put the lowest price I imagine Which is $27. I don't want to sell anything below this price because I'm not sure if I meet my ends meet with the lower price. I would put the maximum amount of reviews at 300 to look for some products that are doing well and have the estimated revenue of at least $5,000. But they don't have a lot of reviews, which means they have traction, they already have This product is a success and they haven't collected as many reviews yet. So I can look at this product and understand Why it is so successful and popular already. But I also have this keyword that I put here, which is reusable, because let's imagine I liked all the trends that I mentioned before. And well, I think that I want to sell something eco-friendly or reusable. And I also picked a few categories that I'm interested in. So then I clicked find products. There are, you know, more filters here. And also if you just want something ready-made, there's also this hub of pre-filters, for example, private label gems, online arbitrage gems, and so on, which you can pick. But that's what I would do. And I start looking through the product ideas. Those are real products from Amazon.com. I'm on the US, but I would do the same for the UK or any other country. So when I looked through, I liked the tote bags, for example, but this is a pack of a lot of tote bags. So I skipped that, I skipped this one. I don't think travel mugs are a good choice because I think this niche is oversaturated and has been for a while. So I skipped this and this. And while I found this interesting thing, I didn't even understand at first what this is. And those are the light up cubes for drinks, reusable. So I looked at the data and what I see is that this product has a good revenue for me. It has a very high price. It just has seven reviews for some reason, not really good rating, which can be improved. So, okay, that's a great product idea. So that's step two. The next step I would do is to check the niche of light ice cubes. When I look at this product, The title usually is big, but if mentally you get rid of all the unnecessary words, you will understand what the core keyword of this product is. And that will be an itch. Of course, if I choose ice cubes, I think that would be absolutely another product because this one, it's not really, it's not even ice. It is just some fake ice cubes that look like ice, but with the lights inside. And it's made of plastic, food safe, as it says. And it's not really that durable, by the way. I mean, yeah, it is reusable, but it says that it can be, it's lifespan is just four to 12 hours. So that's not, the key keyword would be for me, the core keyword, light up ice cubes for drinks, something like that. So when I have this core keyword, I would put it on, I would put it in the Amazon search box. here and pull up the extension. You know what? I have been talking and talking for 20 minutes now and I have a question for you. My first question would be, so how many of you already have a product idea? And what category is it from? Can you tell me? Have you already chosen? Or not yet? That's the first question. If you're willing to answer, please do. I would really love to have communication with you guys to understand if I'm saying something valuable or you already know all this. Sophia, you found the items under $20. Yeah, sure. Items under $20 can be really difficult to sell because where is the profit? You have to... Uh, invest money in everything, including the PPC. PPC is, um, not cheap. So the margins could be really low. Hi Mohammed from, uh, Bangladesh. Blank screen. Sophia struggling to find profitable products. Hmm. So I hope that I'll show you how to do this today and probably you'll find one. Thank you. Thank you for your answer. So you're saying outdoor cooking. I think, yeah, that's a good category. It can be a little bit seasonal. If you want my opinion, you probably know that. The season is big. I think it starts, it can start in March. It can be all year round, but for the colder states or countries, cities, I think the season can be low in the winter, right? But a good season is long, I think, at least in summer and autumn and spring. That's, I think, a good. Books is okay. I think it's great. A lot of people still buy real physical books. Okay. Dietary supplements. Thank you for that. Yes. It's also, I think, popular among our users as well. I talk to the clients. It's my direct responsibility to have the customer interviews from time to time. You may even Get my email to invite you. That's usually an individual call. And I ask about everything. What's going on? Have you found a product like you guys right now? And dietary supplements, books, outdoor cooking are Great products to start. They can be promising. You can be successful, I think, with reselling books, toys. Yes. For a lot of countries, it's always somewhat so. Yeah. When I looked at the Olympics in Milan this year, I realized that For the first time in my life, I think, I don't know why, I realized that there is very few countries where you can have a Winter Olympics because almost all of the countries are warm, have summer. So it's kind of much easier to find a country suitable for the Summer Olympics. I don't know why I didn't realize that before. So yes, you're right. It depends on the country and state. Candles and nail polish. I think why not? Just I'm going to talk about it a bit later. I need to think to find some room for improvement, something new, at least a little bit new design or whatever. And yeah, candles and nail polish can be a great idea. Yeah, gardening. Yeah, someone is agree with me. Gardening is good. Well-being product, improve health, sleep and nutrition. Yeah, I think this niche is booming as well. I think for the, well, lately, I think people started thinking more and more about improving health, improving everything. in their home, sleep, nutrition, especially I think after the COVID. Okay, great. I am so happy that you shared and I wish you good luck with all these niches and categories and let's go on then. So I stopped at my four, I think, and that was a validate niche step. I am sharing my screen again. I wanted to analyze, like I said, demand and competition. So let's look at this niche. So what we have here, I removed all the sponsor products because They are not in the organic results, so they do not represent the niche, let's say. So all of these are organic results for these keywords. I think I removed all the sponsored. Yes. So let's see how the niche is doing. I will sort the products by the sales, by their sales. We'll find the leaders in this niche. They sell quite a lot. I like those numbers. So there is demand. I wouldn't say it's crazy, but for the crazy demand niches, usually there are Really strong competitors. So I'm okay with these numbers and I'm usually looking at page sales share and revenue share to see if there are very prominent leaders who I would have to compete with, especially if they occupy more than 10 or 15, 20% of the page sales or share. In this case, it looks really, really good and okay. I think this one is the leader and has significant page sales share, but it's okay. It's fine. All the other competitors share the sales, not equally, but there is room for a new seller, I think. I don't really like all the prices here. I don't know how they struggle with this price, for example. But if, again, I sort by the price, we'd see that there are a lot of different sets, I think, of this light up ice cubes bulk. Yeah, I see like here. In different colors and the prices are okay. They're even bigger than price that is usually considered to be something psychologically easier, easy to buy, which is I think above $100 and even 70, $50. That's the price. Uh, people usually don't think a lot. About if they want to buy or not. Those are some significant prices and there are a lot of these sets that cost above my target price, 27. You see, I think half of this page. So it's okay. It's good. This is not a completely new niche. So there are a lot of products that started one, two years ago. I don't even see any products that started. In 2026, but there are some that started just, uh, in December and they already have some sales, not many, but they have some. Unknown Speaker: So let's see. Speaker 1: There are quite a lot that started last year in 2026. Another important column that I would look at is reviews, of course, because usually this column represents, I would also sort by this column. And I see that a few products have enough reviews to compete with the others because people prefer the products that have a lot of reviews, obviously, to read through them. To make sure that the product is okay, no one complains a lot about it. And well, it can get competitive to have such sellers, such products in your niche. But that's not the end of the world because some cosmetics products, there are a lot of niches and categories where many products have like tens of thousands of reviews and that's really tough competition. In our case, a lot of Products on the first page, uh, by the way, have just less than 100 or 200, 300 reviews. It shows that no, the competition is not Uh, even close to being tough here. So that's okay. So I would say, uh, medium demand, not really strong demand, but, uh, that's okay. And, um, the competition is okay too. So if you really like the product and the niche, you can try. Well, Step five, I would say, is to check the search volume for the keywords. I would go to the Amazon keyword search by AMZScout. That's what I did. I put the main keyword, light up ice cubes, in the search field. And I found two, I think, most relevant keywords and their monthly search volume. Again, this, I think, is another factor I would include in my demand checking, let's say. Because like I said, this niche doesn't have really high demand, because sometimes the keywords, like I showed you in the presentation, have tens of thousands of searches per month. So this is not something people actively look for every day. I mean, a lot of people, but It's okay, I think if I put some narrow keyword like ice cubes, I would find much more keywords, but they would describe really different products. So first of all, light up cubes. We also have a history of such volume and I can see that the most popular month is December. So Christmas, I think. And I'll light up ice cubes for drinks. It's also growing, but it has a lower search volume. And yeah, it's really seasonal. So if I try to put just ice cubes here, we'll see that there are, of course, much more Keywords and their search volumes, just ice cubes and so on. But if I, for example, by this step, I've already, I would already, I'm already disappointed with the niche. I don't think there is enough demand. Let's imagine, but I like ice cubes, let's say. So I would look for more ideas right here. So I would just put ice cubes. And see, okay, there are reusable ice cubes, silicone, chocolate and so on for tumblers. So many, many more. niche ideas connected with ice cubes. And I could look at the potential demand. OK, the next step I would I would make is find the opportunity to do differentiation and improvement. So I would go to the back to the product, read the reviews and realize what's missing, what people complain about, how to improve the product. But it just has seven reviews. By the way, rating is really bad. So yeah, someone complained. So there is room for improvement. You can launch the same product, improve it. Pretty complaints, but like I said, Amazon blocks a lot of users from looking at their reviews page. Let me show you how it looks. So see more reviews. So that's what I have. They're showing limited selection of reviews, but what you can do is You can ask, ask ChatGPT for advice. But one more thing to do is to go to the AMZScout AI Review Analyzer, put the ASIN, Analyze Next ASIN in the field and we can analyze all the reviews for you. So if you have this block thing like me here, yeah, or you don't want to read all the reviews for every niche you're interested in because it can be really time consuming. That's another product here. I just opened it to show you that. So I put this ACE in, in this program and what I got is, let me show you from this. The advantages of this product that people are sharing in the reviews for this product together with a percentage of how many people told us, everyone about this, for example, durable, holds well and looks good on the wall and so on. Disadvantages, reasons why people buy the product and like it, and key insights from the reviews, the most important stuff, as we think, as our AI thinks, and top suggestions to improve your product. That's what I was talking about. When I was talking about step six. So if we get back to this niche, so you'll have to understand if you can improve anything in this product, improve the design, The quality, lifespan, anything. I think there is already some different products in here, but when the product is that fun, I think there's always room for new designs and improving of quality and also pictures, but we'll talk about it later. So the last step, I think, uh, to actually check the unit economics. That's where I would want to show you our new calculator. So for many years, we just had this FBA calculator and just a month or two ago, uh, we've introduced a PPC and, um, finance, uh, PPC calculator and financial focused, uh, calculator.
